Week 6 Wrap Up

Week 6 was highlighted by a stat correction victory by a Klan’s krew who looked like they had no shot going into the week. We were all excited looking at the scores thinking we were going to have our first tie of the year, but points being taken away from McManus handed the Klan their 3rd win of the year keeping them just 1 game back in the West. Elsewhere around the league, we saw Simba finally crack the Hawkeye defense and put up an impressive 211.1 points. Also, The Legs had a nice bounce back week, and we saw the Hurricanes finally storm their way to a comfortable victory. Harbaugh fought out a win over the Chodes in a battle where Jordan Matthews struggled on Monday night keeping that one close until the 4th quarter.

Week 6 Standings

East: Simba and Harbaugh are tied at first with the Turkeys gobbling not far behind. A storm is brewing in 4th place, though. State Farm is in a tough spot right now.

West: Everton finds themselves in an unusual spot in 1st place. Team noname, The Legs, and the Klan are all creepin right beind them at just 1 game back. The Chodes are in last, but a win this week gets him right back in the mix.

Week 6 Power Rankings

Power Rankings: Good job with the rankings, Mr. Commissioner.

______________________________________________________________________

Below is a look at the highlights and lowlights from the week. I’m not going to say much about McManus being the difference in their game with the Klan, but…..

Team of the Week: Kooper’s Klux Klan (KKK)

I wrote him off before the week started thinking that there was no shot for him to win this week. With huge weeks from Stafford and Calvin, he was able to prevail with a much needed win to keep him within striking distance.

Disappointing Team of the Week: Everton Hawkeyes (EVTN)

They continue to be mediocre at best. They had nice performances from their QB’s and WR’s were decent. But playing a RB in your flex and getting a total of 16.7 between those 3 players is not going to help you win games. He wasn’t going to win because Simbas roar was too strong, but he had a chance to climb a bit in total points/average score with weak match ups this week.

Player of the Week: Matthew Stafford (KKK)

This shouldn’t¬†be much of a shock since he has stuggeled much of the year and then comes out and puts up over 30 points and leads his NFL team to their first win of the year, and helps his real team (KKK) get their 3rd win of the year. If overtime didn’t happen in that game, the Klan would be sitting at 2-4 right now.

Disappointing Player of the Week: Eddie Lacy (RDBT)

He put up 4 points in a game where the Turkeys got lynched by the Klan by a difference of 7 points. Lacy is having one hell of a disappointing season thus far. We’ll see if this bye week will help him get healthy and maybe he’ll do something.

Do the Sanky Leg, Jake From State Farm

State Farm @ Legs

The Battle of the Only Two Not To Come To Our House Bowl. I would automatically give the win the the first one of them to come over and watch football this Sunday with us. Both sitting at 2-3, they would both benefit nicely from a win. If Brett can make sure to set his lineup on Sunday, it’ll give him a better shot at winning. Based off of Facebook, I am guessing he was too hungover to move Sunday morning after a wedding to see if Lynch and Jeffery were going to play. This week is a new week.

QB –¬†Peyton and Cam get the edge for me. Teddy is frustrating to have on your team some weeks. The way they run their offense isn’t set up for a fantasy system unless they get behind early. Rivers will have a few picks this week and will solidify a slight¬†Edge for the Legs.

RB –¬†Who will Brett use as his back with Lynch out again? WIll it be part of his team, or will it be Jennings? State Farm hasn’t had much production from Matt Jones and Frank Gore has been good this year, but he’s going to be behind in the game and Luck will be throwing.¬†Edge – Legs

WR –¬†Two great receiving groups going up against each other here. This is a toss up. Antonio Brown doesn’t seem to be as big of a threat without Big Ben in there, but Odell and Jeffery are banged up. Robinson and Snead have become great options for their teams and both will have a good week. And then there is Larry. I’m expecting another good week from him against Pitt.¬†Edge – Tie

TE –¬†¬†Gronk is always the bet here even if it is against Olsen. Edge – State Farm

Flex –¬†What a great hire for State Farm. Gates is going to be a big factor in whether or not State farm can beat the legs this week. Brandon Marshall should have a good week as well, but with Gates being Rivers favorite red zone target, I’m giving him the edge.¬†Edge – State Farm

DEF/K –¬†Neither D is a great option here, but even if I was kicking for New England, that would be a great pick.¬†Edge – State Farm.

This is another great match up. It’s going to come down to if Brett will make the necessary moves within his team to give his team the boost it needs. There are some big score potential threats on both sides, but with Brett’s team so banged up in key spots, I a going with a victory for¬†State Farm – 160.1-148.2

Ermahgerd Dehrnerd, Grand Rapids Chodes

Harbaugh v Chodes Week 6 Preview

Where do I even begin with these two goon-squads. To start – I’m no longer calling the first team by their name because it’s the worst to type out every time and it’s a terrible name.

Anyways, this match up could be intersting. I never have a great feel for how the Chodes are going to perform. They usually come up a little bit short (and wide) and Harbaugh is dependent on Julio. If he can put together a good week, I’m not expecting this one to be too close. With Big Ben on the trading block, the Chodes could get more solid and maybe gain some depth (length) in the weeks ahead.

QB –¬†Rodgers and Bortles vs Wilson and Luck is a great battle at QB this week. Russel is going to have to get quite a few rushing yards this week against a good Carolina DEF to gain the edge, but I don’t see those two scoring more than Blakey boy and Rodgers.¬†Edge – Chodes

RB –¬†Foster and Woodhead should have the edge here against Chris Johnson and Gio Bernard but it’s going to depend on who is getting the touchdowns for Arizona and Cincinnati since they both go by comittee. Those are tough to tell. I am going to give the edge to the Chodes this week going on the idea that they will each have a couple of touchdowns.¬†Edge – Chodes

WR –¬†Julio gives the Fighting Khakis the edge here, but I’m expecting Golden Tate to have a big week this week after a backlash from him calling out the Detroit fans. James Jones will continue to be old and put up good points. Not sure about Jordan Matthews either way yet. And I don’t like Doug Baldwin.¬†Edge – Harbaugh

TE –¬†Eifert v Kelce. I think I like Eifert here. He has more big play potential and Kelce has been underwhelming thus far. Plus, I bet Kyle has a song about Eifert. We’ll wait to see on Sunday if we’re lucky enough for him to leak some of his stuff before the release of his album.¬†Edge – Harbaugh

FLEX –¬†This is a toss up. This is where the lack of depth for the Chodes shows. The Vikings don’t throw the ball very well and they don’t have to since they are centered around AP. Mike Wallace is their number 1 and if they get behind, that is when he can put up some points. Andrew Luck hasn’t liked throwing to Andre Johnson very much when he has been in there, but we’ll see if now that he saw from the sideline what Johnson can do like he did against Houston, this could be a great pick up from Harbaugh. Still, I’m going¬†Edge – Chodes.

DEF/K РWith the late switch away from Prater to Santos, I have to go with Edge РChodes.

I think overall, this is going to be closer than I initially thought as I wrote the top part of this and ran through position by position. I am going to go with Harbaugh winning a close battle 164.0 – 158.8.

Harbaugh

Hurricane Ditka, Team Novack

Ditka at Novack Week 6 Preview

This is Carston’s nightmare. If he loses again this week, he goes 0-2 vs the Novack boys again to start this year and they’ll never let him hear the end of it!!! (Shout out to our Hamilton readers. Hey guys). ESPN is showing The Flying Ditkas with a few point advantage in the projection, but we’ll see how this plays out.

QB –¬†I think the QB matchup will be what wins/loses this battle for these two. All 4 QB’s have a good shot at having a good week. I’ve been impressed with Bradford the last couple weeks after bouncing back from looking like a wanker. I expect the Lion’s D to tighten up a bit and for them to get their first win of the year by waking up on offense and taking advantage of a banged up Bears offense with 2 OL and 3 WR listed as Questionable. Eli has been quietly having a great year. We’ll see if it’s the good or the bad Joe Flacco this week. ¬†Edge – Team Novack

RB –¬†The Hurricane’s have better match ups this week for running backs and they also have Bell. This one is pretty easy –¬†Edge Hurricane’s

WR –¬†This one is tough. Ditka has a lot of great PPR guys, but it’s going to depend on who shows up. Cooks hasn’t lived up to the hype yet, but he’s starting to get more looks and could be what the hurricanes need to win this battle. If Steve Smith SENIOR¬†is healthy, he can also put up some big numbers. On the flip side, Team No-Name has the expensive Draft Kings guys. AJ Green can do AJ Green things against the Bills (who are pretty good defensively despite their 28th overall against WR’s), Thomas is against Cleveland who haven’t been great against the pass, and Maclin who I would imagine will see more targets since Charles’ leg fell off. Tough to call.¬†Edge – Draw. Even. The Same. Stalemate. Tie. No Difference.

TE – Gare Bear Barn-Daddy! Edge – Team No-Name

FLEX –¬†We don’t know what West is going to give us now that he is going to get a higher volume of snaps. He plays in an offense created around the running back, so you figure he is going to put up some points. I don’t know nearly what I should about Rishard Matthews. He’s been putting up some big points, but the Titans have been pretty good against the pass this year. I am going off of a gut feeling here.¬†Edge – Ditka

DEF/K –¬†Ditka is the worst ever at picking defense so he automatically loses. Probably a smarter play to not play any defense just so he doesn’t lose points as he is -3 points since week 2 at the DEF spot. For the kickers, Team No-Name has a kicker by the same name as a guy we used to hang out with. I wonder what he’s up to.¬†Edge – Team No-Name

This one seems too close to call, but I am going to say that Ditka gets the much needed win in another close high-scoring affair. Ditka 164.4 Р159.4

Everton Hawkeyes, Return of Simba

Simba’s @ Hawkeyes Week 6 Preview

Over the course of the last few weeks, the league has failed to take much of a shape. Both divisions are wide open with more than half of the regular season still in front of us. We have a clash of Titans as Offense plays defense this week with the Wild Simba’s taking on the Mighty Hawkeyes in the week 6 game of the week.

QB’s –¬†Simba’s have the clear favorites with Brady and Palmer while the Hawkeyes have the match ups in their favor as Ryan plays a bad Saints D and Hoyer plays Jax.¬†Edge – Simba

RB –¬†He has Freeman.¬†Edge – Simba

WR –¬†If Luck is back, Everton should pick up a lot of points through Hilton and Moncrief. And Edlebaby is the rawest (real) boy.¬†Edge – Everton

TE –¬†Usually Graham would be the obvious choice, but his roll with Seattle is a lot different than it was when he was with New Orleans. He is going up against a good Carolina defense who doesn’t have their best player, while Larry legend is playing against a Philly Def who gives us a lot of catches to TE’s. Edge – Everton

DEF/K РHe has Lions DEF v the Bears. Everton has the Bengals Defense v Buffalo who barely had over 100 yards through the air. They are playing without Tyrod Taylor this week, so I am giving the edge to the Bengals. And they have Hauschka so they win there. Edge РEverton

Overall –¬†Though this looks like the Hawkeyes have a favorable matchup at almost every position, Simba’s roar is going to be enough the scare away the Hawkeyes and come out with a win. Everton’s defense will continue to shine, but they won’t be able to put up enough points.¬†Simba wins 137.5 – 133.69

Below is what ESPN has to say.
